Jack
O. Gratch, D.O., F.A.C.O.I.
Born, raised, and educated in Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Gratch obtained his undergraduate degree with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and
Science. He then earned his Doctor of Osteopathy from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic
Medicine. He continued his education with Post-Doctorate training (Internship, Internal Medicine Residency, Nephrology and Hypertension Fellowship) at Metropolitan Hospital, University of Pennsylvania, Hahnemann Hospital and Medical
Center.
Dr. Gratch matriculated to Fort Worth, TX, becoming the first
Nephrologist
D.O. in the state, when he joined the faculty of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (now the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center at Fort Worth) to develop the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension.
During his 15 year tenure at the University, Dr. Gratch achieved the following accomplishments: developed a
Nephrology and hypertension core curriculum: actively taught basic science courses such as anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology; established hospital clinical rotations in nephrology for medical students, interns, residents (internal medicine, family practice, and
surgery) at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas; conducted clinical research in Nutritional support of dialysis patients, hypertension, and diabetic kidney disease.
After leaving the University in 1995, Dr. Gratch established Clinical Nephrology Associates, PA. Dr. Gratch
also established and expanded the acute program at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas, not only providing intermittent renal replacement therapy, acute hemodialysis and acute automatic peritoneal dialysis, but also continuous renal replacement therapies for severely compromised patients with life-threatening illnesses such as sepsis, multi-organ failure, and systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
Throughout his career, Dr. Gratch has been an international lecturer and member of various faculties to help provide continuing education to primary care and specialty medical practitioners. Most recently, Dr. Gratch has been recognized by the American Society of Hypertension as
a Clinical Hypertension Specialist, one of less than 600 hypertension clinicians in the United States.
